Below are the scriptures that have made the melodic cut so far for the new Slugs & Bugs CD. I’m hoping to have 5 or 6 more in the end.
The New Testament (books of the Bible) – this video also helps explain the inspiration behind the Scripture CD.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your path.
Be dressed, ready for service and keep your lamps burning,
Like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet,
So that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.
Truly I tell you,
He will dress himself to serve,
He will have them recline at the table
And will come and wait on them.
2 Peter 1:3-4
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness
Through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,
So that through them you may participate in the divine nature,
And escape the corruption of the world caused by evil desires.
You shall love the Lord your God
Will all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye
And pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’
When all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye,
And then you will see clear enough to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Blessed is the man who does not walk
In the counsel of the wicked,
Stand in the place of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of mockers;
His delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water
Which yields its fruit in season,
Whose leaf does not wither.
Ans whatever he does prospers.
The wicked are not so,
But are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.
Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea.
Along the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
They said, “Some say John the Baptist; some say Elijah; others say a prophet.”
“What about you?” he asked them. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered Jesus, “You are the Christ.”
Jesus told his disciples “Don’t breathe a word of this to anyone.”
He then began explaining things to them
He said “The Son of Man must suffer many things, be rejected by the elders, priests and the teachers,
He must be killed and after three days rise again.
Peter rebuked Jesus,
Jesus turned to Peter. He said “Get behind me, Satan!”
“You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
1 John 3:16
This is how we know what love is
Jesus Christ laid down his life for us
And we ought to lay down our lives
For our brothers and sisters
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ,
Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free
From the law of sin and death.
1 Corinthians 13:1-2, 4-8a
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels,
But have not love, I am only a nosiy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
And if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,
It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
To you O Lord, I lift up my soul
In you I trust, O my God
Do not let me be put to shame
Let not my enemies triumph over me
For all whose hope is in you
Will never be put to shame
Search me O God, and know my heart
Test me and know my anxious thoughts
See if there is any offensive way in me
And lead me in the way everlasting

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
And will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none,
Anyone who has food should do the same
Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
Where moths and rust destroy, where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be (also).
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Surely the arm of the Lord
Is not too short to save
Nor his ear too dull to hear
