North, or Be Eaten! Wins Prestigious Award

I hope you already knew that Andrew Peterson (my co-conspirator on Slugs and Bugs and Lullabies) is an author of 2 fantastic children’s books.  On The Edge Of The Dark Sea Of Darkness is his captivating introduction to the land of Aerwiar, and the follow-up novel, North, Or Be Eaten builds on the original into a spell-binding literary tour de force.  This book serves as as good a reminder as any as to why awards were ever given in the first place, and sure enough, North, Or Be Eaten last month received the 2010 Christy Award for Young Adult Fiction.

From the official announcement:

North! Or Be Eaten by Andrew Peterson

In Book Two of the WINGFEATHER SAGA, escape with Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igiby as they flee north, to the Ice Prairies, where they will be safe from the cruel Fangs of Dang. But first they have to survive the dangers along the way—and the dangers within themselves. Andrew Peterson delivers more breathtaking adventure in this tale for all ages.

Andrew Peterson is the author of Christy finalist On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, Book One in the WINGFEATHER SAGA, and The Ballad of Matthew’s Begats. He’s also the critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter and recording artist of ten albums. He and his wife live with their two sons and one daughter near Nashville, Tennessee.

So, congratulations to Slugs and Bugs’s own AP on this exciting news , and if you have not heard of these books yet, then congratulations to you for learning about them today.  You will absolutely love reading them to your kids.  You’ll read ahead to find out what happens next.  You will really care about the characters, and you will begin to follow his social media sites for any news on the third book coming out.  (No official word yet, but I’ll be sure and let you know).
