Slugs & Bugs Concert in Murray, KY

This past Saturday I drove up to the Old Kentucky Home of my dear friend George Landolt.  George hopped in the car with me and we sped off toward Murray, Kentucky.  Before we knew it our conversation had carried us 20 minutes past the correct exit, and we carried on all the way around Kentucky Lake.   Thankfully, we had left travel time to spare. The Slugs & Bugs concert was scheduled for 4 pm at Murray State’s Curris Theater, and I wondered what it would be like playing a kids concert on a college campus.

All I can say is bring on the bow ties and letterman jackets, because the concert was a blast.  The screen was HUGE and the sound guys were on top of their game. Families packed into the theater, there was a terrific Yamaha studio piano on the stage, and I got a Murray State T-shirt and a pack of Reese’s Pumpkin Treats in a gift bag (split the last one tonight with my daughter… thanks Kristin!).

Kristin Taylor, the promoter and organizer blogged about the concert here.

One of the campus pastors took my iphone and videoed a few clips of the evening, and on this one it’s nice watching all the kids and their parents “going to the ball.”

  1. Sounds like fun!
We got the new CD on download last Saturday, listened to it no less than thirty times since, and still love it! 🙂 I do have most of the songs memorized by now, though. Thanks so much for making Slugs and Bugs, My brothers, sisters, parents, and I all love it! Now off to get ‘Mexican Rhapsody’ out of my head! 🙂 LOL

  2. A bit late getting here, but we were at the Murray State concert and loved it! We brought all our kids, even the big 15-year-old and 13-year-old. Entertaining all the way around 🙂 Thanks for the fun! The only thing that would have made it better would have been if just one of my kids had shared their candy. . . Looking forward to the new CD as Slugs and Bugs and Lullabies certainly gets its fair share of play time around here:) Definitely a hit.
